Comprehensive alterations and additions to heritage residence to provide a stunning contemporary residence which emphasises passive solar principles, and use of recycled materials including hardwood timbers and brick. The extension to the rear is flooded with natural light through the use of lightweight steel framed windows and high level glazing with external shading devices.

The project also incorporates energy efficient systems such as hydronic floor heating and solar power all concealed within the structural and finished elements posing significant challenges which had to be overcome early in the structural setout due to the tight tolerances required.

The result is a beautiful, robust family home that will continue to age gracefully.
